At Ted, we offer people with disabilities a stay accessible to all with teams trained in handi-surfing and adapted cycling and surfing equipment. Plus for a fully integrated stay, you can stay at the Surf House equipped for access for people with reduced mobility.
At Ted, accessibility is at the heart of our project combining adapted sports and accommodation in the Landes. It all started with a meeting.
Ted's adventure in favor of accessibility began with the decisive meeting of Élodie and Magali, two women deeply involved in the association La Roue Tourne 40. After having succeeded in obtaining a citizen participatory budget from the Landes department for the financing a bicycle adapted to people with disabilities, they find themselves in an impasse when looking for professionals capable of making this bicycle available free of charge. It is at this moment that their path crosses ours. We are driven by the audacious dream of making sport accessible to everyone, whatever the challenge. From this passionate meeting was born a determined collaboration: to realize the common desire to make cycling truly accessible to all.
Started with the free rental in Capbreton of our electric handi-bike with its seat at the front for peaceful rides, this ambitious initiative did not stop there. At Ted we immediately understood the importance of extending this accessibility to the field of surfing, another universe of freedom and physical fulfillment. Elodie and Magali will be the first to hit the waves with the Ted Surf School. Captivated by this feeling of freedom, she is committed, alongside the team of Ted instructors, to promoting the handi surfing lessons adapted to people with disabilities that the Ted Surf School offers. This synergy allowed us to invest in suitable equipment, including the acquisition of a seahorse, an armchair for traveling on the sand and immersing yourself on your board.
As a partner of the Handi Surf national association, our surf school ensures that surfing becomes a sport accessible to all! It is with great pride that we obtained the “Handi Surf” label. This label demonstrates our commitment and the quality of our services and adapted materials. People with disabilities can now dive into the world of surfing to fully enjoy it! The instructors, aware and trained in different forms of disability, use specific boards and other adapted equipment to ensure a safe and pleasant experience.
Ted offers a complete offer with the upgrading of the Ted Surf House to PMR standards, accommodation accessible to people with reduced mobility, located 100 meters from the Central beach of Capbreton and the Ted Surf and Ted Bike shops. Ted Surf House is equipped with a spacious room designed to meet the specific needs of people with disabilities. Common areas, such as the living room and kitchen, are also designed to be accessible and comfortable for everyone. We recently had the honor of welcoming the French para surfing team in preparation for the 2024 World Championships, a moment of great pride for our team and recognition of our commitment to accessibility.
